Building the foundation of Christian Marriage
What is a Christian Marriage? “We are confessed Christians who have decided to go into matrimony.” Is there much more that will help define marriage? This entire blog is simply focused on the fact that Christian marriage will be quite different. It is very important to learn to read God’s Word that we might better view the foundation of marriage as He intended it. I am convinced that at least one explanation for why we really are unsuccessful throughout married life is that we are lacking The Lord’s vision regarding it.
Let us take a peek at Ephesians 2:21-32 in replying to the fundamental problem above. Ephesians 5:21-32 (Today’s New International Version) Operating instructions designed for Christian Families 21 Submit to one another out of reverence for Christ. 22 Wives, submit yourselves to your own husbands as you do to the Lord. 23 For the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church, his body, of which he is the Savior. 24 Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit to their husbands in everything. 25 Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her 26 to make her holy, cleansing her by the washing with water through the word, 27 and to present her to himself as a radiant church, without stain or wrinkle or any other blemish, but holy and blameless. 28 In this same way, husbands ought to love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself. 29 After all, people have never hated their own bodies, but they feed and care for them, just as Christ does the church- 30 for we are members of his body. 31 “For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh.” 32 This is a profound mystery-but I am talking about Christ and the church.
This specific Scripture gives a simple commandment towards the Christian Marriage: Wives: Submit to your own husband. Husbands: Love your wives just as Jesus loved the church. I found it intriguing that God set simply no conditions regarding this commandment for both mate. It is very important to remember that we’ll each be held accountable for each of our individual actions.
Not to be able to justify the women in any way, however i do think one reason why a few ladies have a problem with submission comes from the reality that some of us men do not always love just like Christ. None of us will always be successful in achieving this valuable Christian Marriage requirement, however it must be an objective we try to succeed in every single day. It is regarded as one of many crucial distinguishing aspects from any “worldly marriage”.
